Tranent: In-person surgeries with councillors return

TWO Tranent, Wallyford and Macmerry councillors have returned to in-person surgeries.

Councillor Lee-Anne Menzies will hold surgeries on the third Wednesday of every month in Elphinstone, at Roots and Fruits, 1-2pm, and in Tranent, at the George Johnstone Centre, 2.30-3.30pm.

Surgeries will be held on the third Thursday of every month in Whitecraig Village Hub, 1-2pm; in Wallyford Community Centre, 2.30-3.30pm; and in Macmerry Miners Club, 4-5pm.

A final surgery is held on the third Saturday of every month in Gladsmuir Parish Church, 9.30-10.30am.

Speaking at a meeting of Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council, Ms Menzies said: “I think in-person surgeries are very important for engaging with people.

“I’ve been really busy over Christmas and in January with calls and enquiries from the public but I think holding these in-person surgeries helps give people a place to go.

“I hope to see as many people as I can at my monthly surgeries.”

Ms Menzies can also be contacted via telephone on 01620 827012 or 07977 164969, or via email at [email protected]

Online surgeries can be arranged at short notice and home visits can also be arranged by appointment for those who need them.

Meanwhile, fellow Tranent, Wallyford and Macmerry ward councillor Colin McGinn has also returned to in-person surgeries, on the first Thursday of every month at Whitecraig Village Hub.

Surgeries will recommence at the Loch Centre, on Wednesday, February 8, between 6pm and 7pm.

Mr McGinn can be contacted via telephone on 01620 827008 or 07834 337594, or via email at [email protected] lothian.gov.uk
