Prestonpans: ‘Unhappy spot’ of grass needing ‘some TLC’

The grass section is situated on just off Gardiner Terrace, near the Co-op and electric vehicle (EV) charging station, falling on many people’s route to Prestonpans Railway Station.

Grass on the section has been worn down and damaged by pedestrians, with questions being asked about whether it would be more viable to have paving there.

The route is often taken by those leaving the Co-op and heading to the station, as it is a shorter walk than using the pavement.

Additionally, those parking at the EV station also tread over the grass surface when leaving.

A Prestonpans Community Council spokesperson said that the issue had been a common theme at meetings and hoped there was a solution for the “unhappy spot”.

He said: “This unhappy spot really needs some attention and has been mentioned at the community council many times over the years.

“Huge foot traffic from the train station across that grass verge requires conversion to paving and the whole area needs some TLC.”

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “Amenity services staff will check out this particular area to assess concerns.”
