Dunbar: Goodbye to chairperson and treasurer

Dunbar: Goodbye to chairperson and treasurer

TRIBUTES have been paid to the chairperson and treasurer of Dunbar Sea Cadets, who have both stepped down after more than 15 years of service.

The group held its annual general meeting before Christmas, when Pippa Swan, unit chairperson, and Alasdair Swan, unit treasurer, stood down after both serving eight and a half years.

The husband-and-wife worked with two commanding officers – Petty Officer (SCC) Michael Kaszuba and Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Martin Galloway – during their time with the sea cadets.

Mr Galloway said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Pippa and Alasdair over the last four-and-a-half years whilst in command of TS Valiant.

“They make you feel very welcome at the meetings and were always thankful for the work we all do as cadet force adult volunteers.”

Mr Kaszuba added: “I will never forget the support they gave me in my time as commanding officer. On behalf of all the ships company at TS Valiant, thank you.”

Graham Adams is new chairperson, with wife Julie Adams becoming treasurer.
