Dunbar: Cash boost for youngsters learning to swim
YOUNGSTERS taking the plunge and learning how to swim are benefitting from a cash boost.
Visitors to Dunbar Leisure Pool will be able to make use of two pool platforms.
The structures will help enjoyleisure’s swimming teachers deliver lessons where children are unable to touch the bottom of the pool.
By providing support and a safer environment, swimming students are able to feel more confident and happy, and develop skills more quickly.
enjoyleisure, which manages the pool and various other sports facilities across the county, received funding of £1,190 from Dunbar Community Council, with funds provided by Community Windpower Ltd.
Laura White, swimming development officer for enjoyleisure, was delighted with the boost.
She said: “We are pleased to have received this funding for our pool teaching platforms, which will allow us to develop our Learn to Swim programme further. The platforms help our teachers to build the children’s confidence in deeper water in a safe environment.”
