Bid to set up Tranent baby and toddler group
Becky Kelly, Francesca Wylie and Suzie Graham teamed up to put a plan together to start their own group after finding that other groups were often expensive.
Becky said: “Having all recently had children, my friends and I noticed a gap in the market, particularly in Tranent, for a place where parents and carers could bring their babies and toddlers along, have a cup of coffee and chat to others, while the kids play.
“There are a number of fantastic classes available locally, but they can be expensive and I have had to miss out on certain occasions.
“We are hoping for our group to run every Monday at the Loch Centre in Tranent between 10am and noon and are just waiting on a confirmation of the date as they are getting repairs done at the moment.
“Our primary aim is to keep costs for those attending as low as possible, but setting up and running a group like this does cost money, so we’re planning to fundraise what we need to get our idea off the ground.”
The group is running a fundraiser on February 17 at Ross High Rugby Club in the form of a quiz night.
They are seeking teams of 4-6 people to take part with the night costing £5 per person and starting at 7.30pm.
Prizes will be on offer to the winning team and a raffle will also be available.
Becky said: “We’ve been blown away by the generosity of many local businesses who have donated prizes.
“It’s shaping up to be a very popular event and tickets are limited so we are advising people to get in quick to secure their space.
“We don’t have a target of how much we are looking to raise but how much we do raise will determine how long we will be able to keep the group going for.”
Tickets can be bought by contacting Becky Kelly directly on Facebook.
