2022 Performance Athletes in Schools (PAiS) Golf

with support from Loretto Golf Academy

In partnership with Loretto Academy we would like to invite junior golfers that live in East Lothian to apply to attend the 2022/23 PAiS Golf winter programme. 

Loretto’s indoor golf academy is a fantastic facility which they have kindly agreed to provide us with access to along with support from their PGA Pros.  We are keen to help as many players access the facility as possible during the winter months so if you’d like to apply to join the programme please see the criteria outlined below. 

Places will be allocated based on handicap and age of the applications received by the closing date of Friday 14th October 2022.

Please note: depending on the handicaps of the players that respond the handicap criteria may alter slightly to accomodate the required numbers in each squad.  Primary aged pupils can apply and will be accomodated if space allows.

 PAiS Golf Criteria

• Attend school in East Lothian and or live permenantly in East Lothian
• Member of an East Lothian Golf Club
• PAIS Performance Squad = Handicap range 0 – 11
• Pre PAiS Development Squad 1 = Handicap range 12 – 19
• PAiS Development Squad 2 and 3= Handicap range 20+

PAiS Performance Golf Sessions (Handicap range 0 – 11)

8 places available which will be allocated to lowest handicap golfers that apply.  The sessions aim to compliment these players existing coaching plans by giving them the opportunity to utilise local indoor practice facilities locally during the winter months.

All Pre PAIS Development Golf Sessions

We also have the opportunity to invite another 3 groups of 10 golfers to attend “Pre PAiS practice sessions” at Loretto Academy led by Loretto PGA Pros.

Ordinarily the charge is £10 per hour per person for a block of group coaching at Loretto Academy however players  that book into our PAiS squads pay the reduced rate of £5 per hour.

If we don’t meet the minimum numbers required we may not be able to proceed so in the first instance we are just looking to gauge interest.

PAiS Golf Criteria

• Attend an East Lothian based school i.e. Musselburgh Grammar, Ross High, Preston Lodge High School, Knox Academy, North Berwick HS or Dunbar Grammar
• Applications will also be considered for pupils that live in East Lothian but attend school out with East Lothian
• PAIS Performance Squad = Handicap range 0 – 11
• Pre PAiS Development Squad 1 = Handicap range 12 – 19
• PAiS Development Squad 2 and 3 = Handicap range 20+

These handicap ranges are a rough guide as it will depend on who indicates that they would like to attend.

2022/23 PAiS Golf Coaching Dates/Times

PAIS Performance Squad = Handicap range 0 – 11

Day:  Mondays

Time:  1900 – 2000

Block 1 Dates:  Mon 31^st Oct to Mon 5^th Dec inclusive = 6 weeks

Block 1 Price:  £35

Block 2 Dates:  Mon 16^th Jan to Mon 27th Feb inclusive  = 6 weeks

No coaching: Monday 13^th Feb

Block 2 price:  £35

 

Pre PAiS Development Squad 1 = Handicap range 12 – 19

Day:  Mondays

Time:  1800 – 1900

Block 1 Dates: Mon 31^st Oct to Mon 5^th Dec inclusive = 6 weeks

Block 1 Price:  £35

Block 2 Dates:  Mon 16^th Jan to Mon 27th Feb inclusive  = 6 weeks

No coaching: Mon 13^th Feb

Block 2 Price:  £35

 

Pre PAiS Development Squad 2 and 3 = Handicap range 20+

Day:  Wednesdays

Time:  1800 – 1900 or 1900 – 2000

Block 1 Dates:  Wed 2^nd Nov to Wed 7^th Dec inclusive = 6 weeks

Block 1 Price:  £35

Block 2 Dates:  Wed 18^th Jan to Wed 1st March inclusive = 6  weeks

No coaching:  Wed 15^th Feb

Block 2 Price:  £35

Each block would be payable separately a week prior to the start date of each however players would need to sign up to attend both blocks to ensure we have the numbers to cover costs etc.

Loretto will have PGA Pros leading the sessions who will work players individually on rotation covering:

1) Goal setting & data collection

2) Trackman Combine

3) SAM Putting

4) Short game skills challenge

5) V1 swing development

6) Pre shot routine building

7) Contraints practice routines, preparing for performance.

We recognise that players at your child’s level potentially all have their individual coaches with coaching plans in place.

The intention of these sessions is to compliment their existing coaching plans by giving them the opportunity to utilise indoor practice facilities during the winter months.

As spaces are limited we are looking for as close to 100% attendance as possible.
